About Traditional Chinese Medicine
TCM Overview
What is popularly known in the west as Acupuncture and Herbal medicine is part of a comprehensive medical system, often called as Eastern or Oriental medicine (Traditional Chinese Medicine, officially in BC, Canada). Even in this age of modern science, this ancient or classic type of medicine is gaining more popularity in the west as well as in the east, because of its safety and time-tested proven effectiveness.
What is theoretical foundation of TCM ?
TCM has its theoretical foundation in more intuitive philosophical sciences such as I-Ching or Taoism, along with some thousand years of clinical accumulations. Rather than attempting to isolate and separate a disease from a person, TCM emphasizes that the human system is an “organic whole” (holistic), and that the human system has an inseparable connection with nature and the universe as a whole.
